Is it worth spending $65 to repair my 4-year-old PSU?

I am new to the forums here.

I have a 4 year old PC and after some fiddling I found out the PSU (PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750W) was dying. Bought a new Corsair AX750 and now my PC is back. Now I wonder what to do with my old PSU.

Contacted PC Power and Cooling tech support, they said they would charge *at least* $65 for the repair. I am kinda undecided on this. On one hand I feel like if the PSU is repairable maybe should get it fixed and use my new PSU for my next build. On the other hand u can get a new low-end PSU for roughly that price.

What do u guys think?

I would not repair for a simple reason. PSUs have a defined lifespan determined by the quality of the capacitor and the level of usage and heat exposure. So in four years of medium use, you are alredy down 20-25% of a high quality PSU lifespan (more if the quality or the usage level is higher). Also newer PSU are more efficient.

Unfortunately the 5 year warranty only applies to more recent models, and mine isn't it. :(

At this point I'll take it apart or trash it. Thx
