Hi, I am trying to install Windows 8 on a SuperWorkstation 7047A-T that uses a X9DAi motherboard.
During the Windows 8 install the system crashes with a ACPI_BIOS_ERROR BSOD.
The system runs ok with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

Full details of the problems are described here:

The system has the bare minimum equipment:
2 x Intel Xeon E5-2660
32GB RAM
NVidia Quadro 4000
Intel 60GB SSD

The X9DAi motherboard is relatively new, and the 1.0 BIOS version is the latest.

Any ideas how to fix this by configuration change, or do I need a BIOS update?

Well I would assume that the default ACPI drivers provided in windows 8 are conflicting with your motherboard. If you try an upgrade install from 7 it should keep your existing drivers which may work... otherwise all I can recommend is waiting for Windows 8 to actually be released and maybe those kinda bugs with finally be worked out.

I doubt it is the ACPI driver, all indications are that it is a BIOS function that failed, or a function called via ACPI that failed.

Seems more likely that it is a compatibility BIOS problem, or a BIOS configuration problem, or a hardware problem.

I would be interested to know if anybody with X9D* motherboards got Windows 8 or Server 2012 installed?
