Im thinking about going with a cheaper AMD Phenom II X4 955 and getting a better radeon 6950 video card rather than puting a extra $100 into the CPU and going with a cheaper radeon 5770, but im not sure the Phenom II X4 955 wont bottleneck with a 6950?

More about : phenom 955 bottleneck radeon 6950

your idea is good, spend more on the gpu than cpu. The 955 is adequate to play any game smoothly. Most people would overclock it though to get a bit more performance. If your not into overclocking it may pay to step up to the 965 for a bit more clock speed for a few $$ more.

Clock speed doesn't really matter that much. GO FOR CHACHE! The more you have the better. That's why the q9550 is still so beast!

what the heck are you on about? are you telling him to go buy a q9550 for $300???? go troll somewhere else, intels 2500k has less cache than the q9550 and stomps it into the ground. Lots of cache doesn't make a fast cpu, but it often helps. the 955 performs similarly to the q9550 which is really not an option anymore.

You'll be fine with the 955!
