Different temps on q6600

I have both speedfan and realtemp installed to monitor the temperature of my 2.9ghz q6600.
when open at the same time, speedfan says 55c and realtemp says on 62c. what's the deal? ideas? also, is it safe to be hitting around 68c (that's what realtemp says, not speedfan) sometimes with this CPU?

these were playing bad company 2 on medium settings. so load. 68 is the highest i've seen it hit (per realtemp) but im sure Battlefield 3 will push it to or maybe beyond that. its just confusing cause speedfan is saying mid-50s

Try "Core Temp" under P95, OCCT or Linpack, so you have full load. Some software gives bogus temp data.

realtemp and coretemp matched up exaclty, speedfan was still like 10c less so im assuming it's to blame. i was at a stable 77c in P95.
is this safe?
