Can a overclock cpu work in a new motherboard (Please help)

Ok i brought a amd phenom ii x4 955 black edition off ebay but it was overclock to 3.4 GHz or 3.6 CHz.I was wondering if i can put that cpu in a new motherboard without having problems because i might have to reset the bios to use a overclock cpu i'm not sure this is my first build please help.

It doesn't matter that it was overclocked before. Unless you overclock it, it will run at its rated speed.

ok so it is like a normal phenom ii x4 955 black edition then theres no changes to the speed more anything

The CPU doesn't remember that it was overclocked. To overclock it on a new motherboard, you would have to make changes in the BIOS; otherwise it won't be overclocked.

Ah ok good then i can finally i cAN FINISIH MY GAMING PC BUILD oh just wondering what do you think amd phenom ii x4 955 be or core i5 650 becuase i have both

The 955 BE is faster. Since they are very different processors, you obviously have 2 motherboards, one socket AM3 and one LGA 1156.
