Why does my wireless on windows 7 have limited or no connectivity to linksys

i am at wits end.. i have tried everything and cannt seem to connect to the internet.
i have a hp laptop that was getting connection at my fiancees place. he has optonline and last week they had to come and fix a problem with the phone and since that day i cannot connect wirelessly to the internet. i get the above message.
could the optimom tech have tampered with the router?
ps help coz i cant access my online classes now

  1. Can you get on the internet if you link the computer to the Linksys router by ethernet cable ?

    I tried connecting with the ethernet cable and i was unable to get a connection. For 1.5 years, i was able to connect wirelessly on this broadband modem but now I can't.

    I'm not sure if the optimum cable tech reset the modem or what. I'm desperate
  3. Check TCP/IP Properties.

    Start, Connect To, Connection, Properties, Scroll Down TCP/IP and highlight, click Properties and check that Obtain DNS and IP address automatically are enabled.
