The graphics card you bought is several generations old. It is likely an AGI card as well, which wouldn't fit in a modern system.

Edit: it does appear to be made in both AGP and PCIe versions. You'll need to know which version you have.

Well that depends on what context you want to look at it in really. Is it a bargain for £10 ? Oh yes i would have snapped it up.

The thing is it depends what you want out of the card. Its only Shader model 2 as far as i can remember so up to date gaming it wont do. Also consider that as they are turning off the analogue signal soon if they have not yet already in your area then the AIW tuner is a bit redundant, im not sure if it would work with a free view box or not ?? (anyone)

If we are talking about a general PC for surfing and the occasional game then i don't see an issue but as i said already for modern games i don't think you will get much joy. I used to own one and it was a great card for its time, I used to play Oblivion on it so it was no slouch.

You would be better off selling the X800 on and getting a cheap AMD card. Which one would depend on what type of gaming you want to do.
If we are talking anything like serious gaming then the card needed for that would cost more but would easily handle and Video work you wanted.
You need to decide what games you might like to play and then we can go from there. What monitor resolution will you be using is also important to selecting a GPU.

The x800 in general is a Very old card and used the same shader as the Radeon 9 series. The aiw version of this card came with a lot of accessories with some that are required. Such as the in put AV block if you are not going to use coax cable. Second you need a program to use the tuner on this card. DSCaller works but best used with XP rather than vista. There is very little to no support for dx9 era ati cards for win7. I suggest a more modern card even if it be a x1k series aiw. They did continue the aiw series up through the 3k and 4k generation but they are not cheap. ATI tuners are known to have complications due to very poor software support, I would know I owned three of their tuner cards and a 9800pro aiw. The 9800pro aiw was the most stable and worked for what I bought it for but poor cooling killed the card. Get a DX10 era aiw at the least for better support.

The Radeon X800 was a good card back in 2004, however, it is now 7 years later and the technology has advanced several generations. After the next generation was the Radeon 1xxx series, it is now up to the Radeon 6xxx series so your card is 6 generations old.

Fortunately, the X800 is supported by Sims 3, but there might be some minor performance issues if you are trying to max out the graphics quality.

Don't forget the lack of shader model 3 and the limited or no support for more modern games due to continued driver support. In short op needs to dig deeper if he or she wants the best results.
