27" + Monitors

I'm in the market to upgrade to a larger monitor that is also HD. Any ideas what I should be looking for?--Mark

What resolution ? 1920 x 1200 or 1920 x 1080 is suitable for 17 - 23 " monitors. At 24", they start to get a bit "grainy". Look at the table here:

The average human eye starts seeing individual pixels below about 96 ppi. A 27" 1920 x 1080 monitor is down about 81.6

If you want to avoid that, a 2560×1440 27" model will get you about 109. I'd put max size at about 23.6 for a 1920 x 1080 which is 93.3 ppi

A 120 Hz 23" monitor will run you about $350, 60Hz about half that:

The above assumes you don't need accurate color, in other words, not doing photo editing or soemthing where accurate color is critical .... that would mean an IPS panel....entry point here is the $500 Dell U2410 , next up the U2711.

1920x1080?
1920x1200?
2560x1440? - This will be an expensive option.

I have a Samsung P2770FH and it looks great. A 2560x1440 monitor is going to be prohibitively expensive...

Samsung makes a good monitor at a good price. My P2770H looks beautiful and comes with a cool bezel design at 27 inches and 1080p resolution.
