Motherboard failed, how to handle cpu now?

Ok, so my motherboard failed due to personal error. I've ordered a new one and now I'm not sure what to do with my cpu. I've applied artic silver thermal paste already, should I simply leave it on and put the cpu back in the plastic container it came with? It's an i5 2500k. Also with the heatsink which is a hyper 212 +, the thermal paste made contact with it? Should I just leave that on? I should get my new mobo in about 2 days.

Doesn't really matters... Same phase ganna be on it so doesn't cost problem... you can put the heatsink aside awhile having the CPU on the heatsink's base or the Thermal Phase and let it sit there for few days...
