I have an ECS board (a790gxm-ad3), i have problem with randomly freeze. i changed my graphic card (now i use gt440) and rams but my problem still go on. sometimes it looks like fix but about 2-3 weeks later again. I use Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit linux; i had same problem other linux distro.
When my system freeze, i restart my pc but it couldnt open (monitor led blinking, and monitor get into power save mode), sometimes it open but this time system power led blinking. Sometimes pc normally open but it doen't boot and it show boot error (like insert bootable media)
yesterday, i cleaned my cpu and power supply heatsink and fans. i had not got thermal jel so i use toothpaste. as a result my system tempature decrease about 5~10 C. After my PC boot and open normally. Up till now, it hasnt freezed and hasnt restarted.
CPU tempature (on system free): 65~C
system temp. (on system free): 45~50C
are this values normal?
today i wil try your suggestions, hard drive test.
Meanwhile, thanks for your quick answer
CPU temperature below 70C should be OK. However, toothpaste is not a good substitution of thermal paste for the heatsink. You had better to get the thermal paste for your heatsink. Normally, the temperature of CPU will go higher if the system is heavy loading. If the temperature of CPU is ove 70C, it may cause the system freeze, reboot or shut down.
my problem still continue in spite of CPU temperature below 70C. i tested harddisk with wd Data Lifeguard Diagnostic(result: test complate without errors). Where is problem? there are two possibility CPU or mainboard. Meanwhile, when i restart pc after freeze, bios speaker dont beep.
Today i get this error message after restart:
unaligned pointer 0Xdffa3c35c
aborted press any key to exit
now, i'm writing from win7. there isn't problem yet. updates are downloading, after setup driver and updates, i will force my system (cpu, gpu, hdd, memory..) and i write results. If problems go on, i write this forum.
I am from Turkey, how can i contact with ECS Technical Support Department? Phone? Is it free from my country?
