All benchmarks show that the i7 2600K is the best gaming CPU, but why not compare the 1100T with the i5 2500K which is the best gaming CPU for the money?

Dude, have a look at Tom's comparison (I actually just read it, it's informative and very well structured):

Oh, and they also come down to the 2500K. It's the best gaming CPU on the market currently, keeping value for money in mind.

i7 2600k has 4 cores, 8 threads with HT
i5 2500k has only 4 cores, 4 threads, no HT

AMD's 1100T has 6 cores, 6 threads.

For a gamer with a higher budget, I would suggest the 2500k.
For low end systems, choose 955 BE which can easily OC.

The best gaming CPU that can be compared with 2500K is the Phenom II X4 980/975 those particularly perform great in gaming than any other 4 core/6 core from AMD.

The 2500K is performing similar to the 2600K in gaming, if your work will be mostly multitask & threaded applications then the 2600K is your sweet choice.

Your i5 2500K is just comparable with the FX 8150, we all know that the current SB series are over AMD CPUs.
But as i clarified, when it goes to gaming particularly, the 980/975 BE = i5 2500K in most benches. just a difference of 5-8 FPS mostly

Do you think the FX 4170 would be an improvement over the 955BE? Im looking for a more affordable upgrade until Piledriver since the 8150 flops.

Just stick with the 955BE and wait for Piledriver.

So you are suggesting that the poster gets a less powerful CPU than the i5-2500K and then upgrade to Piledriver hoping that it will close the performance gap against the i5-2500K?

In the end that will cost more money and I have my doubts Piledriver will equal the i5-2500k. AMD is currently 2 generations (performance wise) behind Intel. Piledriver needs to perform at least 20% better than Phenom II / Bulldozer just to equal Intel's Sandy Bridge's performance.

How do you test a cpus gaming performance at 1080p?

that cpu test looks like a high end gpu tested on the stock speed of the cpus.
a 2500k doesn't kill anything if both run a good gpu on a high resolution.
Maybe if your resolution is 720p then the 2500k will show its muscle. But on 1080p that's the gpu doing the work. All the cpu need to do is keep up

I'm not going to get the i5 2500k because of my budget... so im going for AMD
Hmmm... alright, I have the x4 980 in mind, now I'm wondering if the FX 8150 is better than the x4 980

Also, thank you all for your feedback! its really useful :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

No reason to get Zambezi right now, just get the AM3+ Mobo, 990X chipset and the X4 980

with all due respect your making a huge mistake and most people will push you the same way. get an i5 2500k. its only about 50 dollars more and mobos are about the same. the performance difference is big and if you have a good gpu the cpu is more important then what some people have mentioned earlier.

You were considering a 2600K, but a 2500K is out of your budget? You do realize that the 2500K is cheaper, right?

And I agree with the poster above me. If you can't afford $50 then you can't afford $50, but not going for an i5 or i7 if at all possible will be regretted later IMO. There has probably never been a CPU with performance per dollar like Sandy Bridge.

From my countries price lists a Phenom 2 X4 980BE costs more than a i5 2500k, marginally, and is a good few years older P2 technology (I am guessing 2008ish). You will regret buying a older generation AMD in two years time when software is to much for it to handle.

rhe 980be is not the best gaming cpu. that would be the the 955be because it can be overclocked to the same clock but is cheaper.

Lol people are still active in this post? Anyway ive made up my mind long ago and i went for the Phenom 2 X4 965 BE. i also got an am3+ mobo in case i want to upgrade in the future. i am quite happy with my decision and i went for a better gpu instead as thats the most important part in a gaming PC.
