Which upgrade route

Tags:

Hi everyone, I am now facing a decision about upgrading my machine and would really appreciate your help.

My current PC has a AMD Phenom II X6 1050T on a Asus Crosshair IV Formula. I have 4GB of the following memory: Corsair cmx4gx3m2a1600c7 (2x 2GB).

I am going to do some upgrading and would like to go to 8GB of RAM. My question is: should I buy more 4GB of this memory and add on the remaining slots of the motherboard, or should I try to sell it and buy 8GB (2x 4GB) of something like the GB38GB1333C7DC ?

My question is because this memory is 1600 MHz, which is only supported on AM3 via a small overclock. I actually had to work a bit to make my current memories work properly on my machine. I am afraid that with 4 sticks of those the system won't run. Does anyone have experience with that or some input? Thanks in advance.
