So I've been looking at building a new gaming machine, I'm basically starting over in terms of hardware. (Since I work on a MacBook Pro)

I already have a screen, keyboard and mouse. I've read reviews and got some parts together that I think I'm pretty happy with. Wanted to get some feedback.

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 SuperClocked
PSU: Corsair TX 650W
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb (2x4gb)
Case: NZXT Phantom White
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1tb

I'd like to keep this build as close to $1000 as I can.

Would love to get some feedback. Thanks!

You won't notice any actual gain in gaming performance between the Core i5-2500k and Core i7-2600k, but it will show in more intensive usage like designs, 3D rendering, and whatnot. 1600mhz for memory is where you wanna be right now as it complements Sandy Bridge processors. You should be able to find some around $60. The rest looks good. Beautiful case by the way.

Just a few recomendations:

- CPU - Since its mainly for gaming you can use i5 2500k and save a few bucks to put towards other stuff.
- Hard Drive - Get yourself an SSD! (SATA3 500+mb/s) (Intel 510 Series?)
- Power Supply - Corsair - Excellent choice (Made by Channel Well or Seasonic)
- Memory - You can find a lower latency (7 or 8) at 1.5v for a better price. Note: heatsink on ram = runs hot but looks cool.

All other components look good.

Good luck.

Any recommendations for RAM?

I'll probably go for the i5 and put the extra $100 towards an SSD later on. Thanks!
