Does any one know what bandwith you can get over the PCI bus when Writing to a card or reading from a card. I know that the theoratical bandwith is 132 MB/s but I heard that you must glad when you get around 40 MB/s.
Depends on how many devices are reading/writing at the same time. The theoretical limit is about what the PCI bus can do. That's why ATA100 raid cards with 4 drives top out at just over 120MBps. Add a sound card, network card, SCSI card, modem, and video capture card and each device has to share that bandwidth or take turns using it.
