Hi,

I have an HP Pavilion Desktop computer circa 2008, Model a6400f.

Its (Asus) motherboard has a 34-pin header that is labeled "Floppy" but it accepts a 2.2"-long connector. The connector on my FFD cable is 1.9" long.

Is there anything I can do to connect my FDD to this computer?

Have you already tried plugging the cable into the connector to see if it fits?

No, I haven't.

Not only are the connector lengths different, but the shorter connecter's pin spacing is 0.10 inch while the longer's pin spacing is 0.12 inch. That connector looks more like the old IDE connector, and I'll bet that's exactly what it is.

I've never seen a FDD with an IDE interface.

Not much you can do if it doesn't fit. If you really need a floppy drive, get one that uses USB, they make some internal.

Yeah, that's what I kinda figgered :(

So I gave up and ordered an external FDD to USB drive for $US10. Hopefully that'll bring me joy...
