Best graphic card for my system??

I was thinking of getting an HD 6850, my system is below. Think it'd be a good match or is there another card that comes to mind as better? my resolution at the moment is 1280x1024, may upgrade in future.
Thanks guys.

  1. What card do you currently have- if you don't know install GPU-Z (it's free and small, just look it up).

    Personally, I currently have a 5770 and was thinking about upgrading to a 6970 in the near future before I read about what the 7xxx series would be like. From this site http://hw-lab.com/specs-for-amd-radeon-hd-7990-disclosed.html it looks like the next series will see lower power usage and a significant gain in power. So if you can wait a year then picking up a 7xxx might be your best bet. If you can't wait your 6850 should be a fantastic card.

    P.S. Personally, I know someone who games with Eyefinity on three monitors using a 6870 pretty well, but it would still be nice to know what resolution you're using...

    Like I said up top, my resolution is 1280x1024. I'm for sure gonna be upgrading in the next 2 months, dont wanna wait a year. My integrated chip is a Hd 4290. Those chips sound awesome but how expensive are they gonna be? I know the 6850's go for about $160 on the site I order from http://www.directcanada.com/. Thoughts?
  3. If you want a card that will be excellent for your current resolution you don't need to spend that much. Looking on the site you linked they have an HD5830 for $110 which is a good deal. I doubt you will see much of difference compared to an HD6850 especially with an Athlon II @ 3.1ghz. Honestly whatever card you get giving that CPU an OC is a good idea. It's ok as is but pushing it higher will certainly help in the more CPU intensive games.
    Here is a performance chart for your resolution;

    As you can see the HD5830 is only about 10% slower on average. Click the link and look through the article for actual benchmarks.
