Budget: I already found the cards im thinking of getting and im asking in general which is better for gaming. If there is a card that isnt from the better series but still performs better than the better series plz mention it
Only recently has the HD5830 been priced at a point where it makes sense to recommend. It is faster than the HD5770, by about 15-20% at high resolutions, but it does have it's disadvantages. Specifically it is significantly larger and uses a good amount more power/gives off more heat when under load.
Yea I found xfx 5830 for 99 on tigerdirect, im playing modern games and want the best performance. Games Cod mw2 and 3 (when it is released) red dead redemption, crysis 2, tons of other modern games...
The 5830 is only a little faster than a 5770 but sucks up alot more power. As previously stated it's only recently come down to a price that's reasonable for it's performance, but it's still a big hot power sucking card. If you're confident your PSU can handle it and a 5830 is the best you can afford then get it. If you can spend a little more get a 6850. If you're not confident in your PSU and can't get a 6850, then go with a 5770.
The other guy who responded said its a good amount better, plus iv heard that 6000 series is rebadged 5000 series...
The 6000 series is for the most part not a rebadging of the 5000 series. The one exception to this is the 6770 which is a rebadged 5770 that was originally only going to be distributed to OEMs, though they are now starting to show up in retail as well.
id get a sightly larger psu (watts) especially if u go with the 5830. I have a 550W one and it limits me quiet a bit... id get at least 700 watts. Also does anyone know of a way to tell how much power ur actually using?
I have recently installed a XFX XXX edition 5830 in a PC for a friend. Going from a 4850 it made sense here in the UK to get a £84 5830 over a higher priced 5770. The 5850 was the card of choice but my friend couldn't justify the extra price when looking at benchmarks in reviews.
I bet he is gutted now i just today received E-mail from a retailer selling teh 5850 for £99. Still you wont get anywhere if you sit and wait all the time. She was very happy with the 5830 anyway.
