Xbox 360 Motherboard Inquiry!

Hey guys, i know i shouldnt really post this here, but i figure you guys know more about motherboards than the xbox 360 nerds lol. So i decided to try to run my old RROD xbox and it actually worked! idk why but it did. i got the new dashboard update and then threw in halo 3 and it froze up on me. my speculation is that it's not getting cooled properly since its using an old xclamp fix that i did a poor job on. besides running games, it can run the dashboard for a good hour or more! do you guys think the thing overheats due to me loading a game and then it breaks on me or what are your opinions. kinda rushed sorry for the poor grammar, but i think i found something to do for the next few days =)
