Microsoft security essentials better than avast free?

should i believe my friend, is he write?
one of my friends told me that m s e is better because avast free attracts viruses and spyware unless you get the paid version. he also said he had lots of trojans that m s e detected but avast didnt, he said he removed avast free and got m s e and it detected them but avast free could not.

U can use Avast along with Malwarebytes and Comodo Firewall that is free, but got great results in defending your PC. And u can configure it to your satisfaction with ease.

Personally I've had problems with avast and switched to mse. I have to see if I face any problems in mse. Experiences vary between users... personally one plus for me is mse requires no registration but doesn't really matter since avast's is free... just a small thing.
Avast can't get rid of malware. Don't know if mse can. I had to use malwarebytes to do so.

I use paid Kaspersky and free Comodo firewall.

BTW, its mostly the user, that is the weak link, so its your friend that doesn't know how the game is played.
