for some wierd reason my Ultranav isn't working properly on my T41 2373. The
Ultranav wizard tells me that I have the trackpoint disabled in BIOS, but I
have them both set to "auto".
If I disable the Touchpad in BIOS, then the trackpoint works.. This
behaviour also happens in the IBM Predesktop Area, so it's nothing within
the O/S.
It's almost as though there's a hotkey combination that I don't know about.

In case anybody Googles this in future - the problem was caused by a bad
Touchpad.
Yep, that's right. Touchpad with tiniest bit of sticky coffee around the
Synaptics IC underneath, caused the Trackpoint not to work unless the
Touchpad was disabled.
I was lucky enough to get hold of an identical machine and found that
replacing my Touchpad with his made my Trackpoint and Touchpad work
simultaneously, a la Ultranav.
I removed my touchpad, and washed underneath with warm water & diswashing
liquid. All working now.
