I have a Dell XPS that I'd like to upgrade the graphics card .
Its this model with an i7 920 and a GT220

http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-studio-xps-deskto...

Does anyone know the wattage of the power supply that Dell fitted to these machines?

Its not labeled , but it does have a 6+2 and a 6 pin pci power connector

If anyone can help it would be appreciated . Thanks

There are 6 different models that could have those specs.

I would like to see some more info so I don't have to spend all this time trying to guess which one it is.

Please supply a series of letters and numbers from the PC, either the serial number in the back that probably ends in some number and a 1 or a model number that is either 4 numbers or 2 letters and 4 numbers which should probably be on the front.

Yes it is labelled if you bother to take it out.
Why don't you go to Dell website and enter your service tag lazy!

Thanks guys, you are champions. The Dell doesnt belong to me and its not here so I cant just take it apart .

The service tag is a great idea. I have never owned or bought a Dell so I didnt know that was even possible .

I would hazard a guess that 99% of all PSUs carry some form of identification as to the maker and model.

Usually there is a great big sticker that covers up a whole side that gives statistics about its energy output and usually that information is also on that sticker.

I have pulled the side panel off and looked for it . Not there on the side thats exposed . I suppose they could have it where you cant actually see it , but that seems a bit crazy .

Hopefully when it comes back we can trace it through the service tag
