Upgrade Video or cpu/mobo/ram

Hey guys!

Havent posted here in a long time. So recently I got into the battlefield 3 alpha, so in light of this I figured its time to do some upgrading. I currently have:

E8400 OC'd to 3.8ghz
4 gb of kingston ddr2 800mhz
XFX 750i SLI motherboard, 1333mhz FSB
EVGA 285 GTX superclocked 1gb ddr3 video

Im wondering where I would benefit the most in terms of upgrade, ive been thinking video upgrade to a

EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD Fermi 732MHZ 1280MB GDDR5

Or would you say to upgrade to a

Intel Core i5 2500 Quad Core Processor LGA1155 3.3GHZ Sandy Bridge 6MB (is that enough power? or should I hold out for an i7 2600k?)

and a

Gigabyte H67MA-USB3-B3 mATX LGA1155 H67 DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 CrossFireX HDMI DVI USB

As always, your advice is valuable!

More about upgrade video mobo
  1. I would go for the CPU/Mobo upgrade since that 285 is still pretty decent.
  2. Honestly it's sort of hard to choose. I'd probably go with the CPU/MOBO like jmsellars said. My reasoning is that this will mean you have a CPU to last the next few years, and also the motherboard will be a good setup for a videocard update. I think it's generally a good idea to get a new MOBO first. That way you can easily have the availabity to upgrade to a new card (or multiple).

Only downside is that your graphics wont be insane when playing BF3 Alpha. You could go with graphics if you're really wanting to get full/max performance from the game, but otherwise multitasking/adaptability comes first in my book.
  3. I just want the biggest performance increase for gaming in general. Primarily Battlefield 3 and subsequently, diablo 3.
  4. Still, Battlefield is quite CPU dependant. If you got a graphics upgrade i think a dual core would only bottleneck it.
