Ram latency 9-9-9-28

Hello,

I'm recently new to all this...

I've got a Asus P8Z68-V PRO which says I can have a max of 32Gb RAM so I went downmy local and the tech there said 4x GEIL 8Gb PC3-12800 CL9-9-9-28 1600 Mhz 1.5V should be fine.

Got home ripped out the old 4x Kingston 2Gb KVR 1333Mhz 1.5V and put the new in.

Have CONSTANT BSOD, tried to change the Tras to 24 in the BIOS but no joy.

Any ideas???

I fogot to put in some other details....

CPU Intel i7 2600
Drives: Intel SSD 520 series 120Gb F/W 400i
OZC Agility3 60Ggb
Western Dig 1Tb
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6950

    I got 2 x 16Gb for $218 Aus ....
  7. OK : ))

I would say first, that there is no performance gain if u OC the RAM.
  8. RAM speed comparison - We're looking at a less than 2% difference from the fastest to the slowest.

  9. Also not every RAM let you OC so easily.

    I wouldn't bother.
  10. Your CPU likes 1600MHz @ 1.5V

Cool Cool.. How come every time I put the Ram in my computer starts Windows then dies with a BSOD? Can I make it accept these sticks??????
  12. OK, I don't know everything that u did,

could be the latency, wrong frequency or voltage or something else..

Or some setting u did. Reset the BIOS and enable XMP mode.
  13. Reset the CMOS memory the right way as is described in the motherboard manual using the clear CMOS link with the power cord unplugged.
And when the battery is out, press the power button to discharge all the electricity from the system.

Will this make it boot and accept the new sticks? When I put the old ones back in it boots up fine.... When I go into the BIOS after having installed the new ram it recognises the 32Gb but then dislikes anything after the Windows loading logo (Win 7 Home premium)
  15. It usually does, it resets your old settings to what it was when new.
  16. Sorry, wont work all 32 GB RAM.

Your Windows supports only 16GB RAM.

    U need the W7 x64 Pro version.
  17. Interesting. Would simply not having the correct operating system version cause a bsod?
  18. It could be anything. The RAM could be bad or the PSU or mobo ....
  19. Use only 2 sticks.
  20. Did u clear it?

    DDDDOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

I've tried just having two of the 8Gb sticks in the apropriate slots and same thing......

Would I be better off taking the ram back and getting 9-9-9-24 like the ones that work in a 4x4gb kit or if I upgrade to pro/ultimate can I get them working?
  22. Both. Better RAM and upgrade, if u need that much RAM.
