Quick question for you guys, I was pretty set on just one gtx 580 with no plans to SLI or OC, running on an i7 2600k 1920x1080 because that would be more than enough to handle any games, however with more graphically demanding games coming out, like bf3, mw3, etc. I was thinking of a different single GPU solution, I was thinking of just spending a bit more and getting the gtx 590 because it's a dual card set up. My question though is do games read it as a single card, or as an SLI setup? I really don't want to mess with SLI and I know the 590 doesn't oc well but I have no plans to oc anything. I just want a single GPU solution that will last me years before I upgrade to another single GPU. Thanks.

Well my build is pretty much already set I am just trying to settle on how I want to do the gpu. Ill be running on an i7 2600k and a 24" 1920x1080. Im thinking I'll just go with a single gtx 580 and sli in the future if i need it, but I shouldn't. I just keep hearing conflicting things, people saying a single 580 is more than enough for high settings and bf3, and others saying newer games like bf3 will struggle with a single gtx 580

just go the 580 it will be fine at that resolution and to be honest most people who plan to SLI don't. I found that last time I bought a high end single card with the idea to SLI later but never needed to and now when I should its just not worth it due to massive difference in performance availble form new rigs compared to my 7 year old one.
