Can someone tell me what is the difference between Windows 7 and Windows 7 Workstation? Do you need one of the Windows 7 OS before you use workstation?
Is Workstation stand alone?
Can I test an application on Workstation?

I am so confused. I looked at other information on the internet and it only confused more.

Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Windows 7 is an operating system
Workstation is another name for the desktop computer/desk your working at. I also belive workstation is the name of some software by VMWare which is basically virtual machines (machines that run off a server).

Editions of Windows 7 are:

Windows Home Premium
Windows Home Premium N
Professional
Professional N
Ultimate
Ultimate N

and then theres 32-bit or 64-bit versions of each.
