Asrock extreme6/gb questions

How is the asrock extreme6/gb. Ive heard a lot of DOA on it on newegg reviews but just about every board does, maybe because of buyer mishandeling? I like the idea of a separate sound and nic card that way it takes from the CPU usage and I don't have to spend another 150$ on a sound and nic card. Also how does this board compare to the asus p9x79 pro and asus x79 saber tooth? I don't really want to spend the extra on it but if the asrock isnt realiable or any good of a board I'd go with asus.

  1. I always take Newegg reviews with a grain of salt, people that get DOA board usually post reviews to complain, can't say the same about people that everything works fine for. The P9X79 PRO is probably the most recommended board.
  2. So even with that separate sound/nic card you would still recommend the p9x79 pro as a better board?
  3. I personally would get the cheaper because I am more cost sensitive than relying on recommendation. Here is a review that can help you choose http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/x79-ud3-p9x79-pro-dx79si-benchmark,3111-24.html
  4. Lol I was actually just reading that when you wrote the post. But the extreme6/gb is about 30$ cheaper, so go for that?
  5. I would never pay that much money for an Asrock board, until ASrock can prove their reliability with the ranks of Asus and Gigabyte they will always be last pick for me. That being said their boards do in most cases offer great features.

Actually when you reach that price range what is $30 +/- 10%
  7. Well out of these, I'd pair it with a 3820 and possible sli gtx 670 in future, never more than 2, if that even

    Asrock extreme6/gb - 250$
    Asus p9x79 pro - 270$
    Gigabyte ga x79 ud3 - 220$
    Asus sabertooth x79 - 290$
