File view continually changes

I just recently reinstalled windows me....I am continually having to change the "file view"...every time i change it to "list"...it converts back the next time i bring them up.........any ideas? thanks!

Open Windows Explorer. Change the folder view to "List". Then, from the Toolbar, View\Folder Options\View. Choose "Like Current Folder" under Folder views. Then scroll down, and click the box, "Remember each folder's view settings".

Now go open a few windows and change the views to what you prefer.
