Recently i've become aware of a noise coming from my PSU, it's quite faint, but when everything else is silent, you can hear a light electrical buzz. I've checked the back of my PC, and inside, and i'm 100% sure it's coming from the Power supply. My performance is fine, but I don't want to let it grow any louder, or cause future problems.

Currently I have an OEM 750 WATT ATX PSU, that came along with the Alienware I bought a few years ago.
Pretty sure this is the one- http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=NPS-750AB-1-R&c...

I'm looking to upgrade to a- http://www.scan.co.uk/products/950w-psu-powercool-pc-95...
Or a Corsair model- http://www.scan.co.uk/products/850w-psu-corsair-enthusi...

However, i'm quite worried about replacing my PSU, with the amount of work it seems to involve. Alienware did a nice job with all the leads, tieing them back with straps, and weaving them through the PC's shell to keep them out of the way. Plus, beneath one of the side panels, i've noticed a heap of wires connecting to the PSU, I think most are actually for the LEDs.

In comparison to the one I have, and the ones i've linked, would there be any issues, for example, a lack of connectors? I'm not bothered about loosing out on LED's if it means I have to sacrafice them.

Thanks in advance!

Some brand new power supplies give out the same noise; it may be a capacitor or loose component in the ps. If the noise is faint, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks, I reckon I am being a little too paranoid, i've noticed this for about a month or more, and nothing has happened as of yet *Touch wood*.
I just thought i'd look around since i'm in the process of upgrading my GPU and Ram. Don't want to pay out money for something that I wont be able to use if my PSU packs itself in.
