You could spend a lot less on the cpu cooler . The Sandy bridge cpu's run pretty cool anyway

other then that should this build run all games on max settings without a problem and are the 2 6970's the best choice here (price in mind)?

Got to agree cooler is overkill. Coolermaster Hyper 212+ will do a good job for a lot less. You might also look at going with GTX570's. I have the 6970 and while it is not bad I like my friend 570 better. Graphics card envy sucks.

The Noctua beats the Hyper 212+ in cooling in all the tests I've seen and runs quieter. Is it worth the price? I feel like that is an individual decision. I only have noctua fans in my case but some people would prefer not to pay $30 a fan...I, however, think my computer should be seen and not heard.

As for the 570 or 6970...are you planning to run 3 monitors or more? If so, stick with the 6970. Are you into 3d gaming? If so, go with nvidia. With that being said, the 570 also performs slightly better in the benchmarks.

Is water cooling good if I plan on having someone over clock my CPU, if so any suggestions on what one?

I don't dabble in water cooling but the noctuau12 is a good mix of performance and quietness.

The d14 would be the best.

I have never used a water cooling system, but I have been told that they are pretty noisy. Personally I wouldnt dabble with it and just stick with the good ol' fan cooling.

So the Noctua will be good enough even if I plan on Over clocking??

If you want to save some money, you can probably go for monitors without the hdmi support and by dropping down to 1920x1080i res. That would save you at least 150-200 off the build.

I have two of these myself: http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-VX2450WM-LED-23-6-Inch-...

I actually got them at J&R for 170 each but amazon sells them for 180 each.

Remind me again why you are getting 3 radeon cards again? one radeon card can run up to 6 monitors. crossfiring 2 radeon 6950s should give you the ability to max out at all current games on the market.

I think his plan is to run them all in hdmi, since currently the 6950's only have 1 hdmi connector, I would assume thats why he needs 3 of them?

I play on a 23.6" Acer 1080p and boy, If I could support 2 more of these in 1080p hdmi I would be using eyefinity like crazzzzy :D

I'm confused. You can't run eyefinity with 1 monitor plugged into 1 graphics card. Each of the 3 monitors needs to be plugged into one of the 6950s by using the displayport and hdmi/dvi output.

http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-eyefini...:

Note: Monitors connected in a Display Group must be connected to the same graphics card.

Hmm I thought each monitor was assigned to it's own graphics card? So when I receive this order and pit it together o should connect 3 monitors to one graphics card? Also should I
Install my OS on the SSD along with my games?

No, you can connect up to 6 monitors to a single AMD graphics card. From my understanding, you can connect two via normal hdmi/dvi connections but your 3+ monitors must use a display port connection. You need to buy a display port to hdmi or display port to dvi connector.

You DO NOT have to buy 3 graphics cards to use 3 monitors.

Hope that helps.

But being that I have 3 GPU and 3 monitors will it make Amy difference If I hook up one monitor to one GPU or 3 monitors tp one GPU?

I don't think you need 3 GPUs. Just look at it like this.

95% of the general population do not have a 6970
4% of the general population have one single 6970 (if that)
.9% have dual 6970s in cf
.1% have 3 cfs..and most of them only have that config for benchmarks

You will max out every single game on the market and on the market for the next year or two (at least) with two 6970s

umm, originally you had 2 6970s lol.

In any case, you can either 3 way crossfire now (you still need to plug all monitors into a single graphics card) or you can return a 6970.
