Comparing i5 with 6gb DDR3 1333mHz or i7 with 4gb DDR3 1066mhz

Hey guys! It's been awhile.

I'm trying to help a friend decide which laptop to get. Personally I hate laptops because they feel like a dead end, but I guess every now and then i want one too haha.

The budget is $800

Needs: Everyday computing, word processing, movie watching. Little to no gaming that would require any video performance beyond HD movie watching.

The contenders:

We have an Acer Aspire vs a Toshiba Satellite.

The Acer's specs:

I was thinking the i7 processor would be a better choice and well worth the $100 dollars, but I see the i5 Toshiba has faster and more memory...

I've also heard that Acer may have a better build over toshiba.

What do you guys think he should get or have another laptop in mind under $800?

Thanks!

  1. There is substantial difference in performance in favor of the I7 much more than memory speed can make up http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html
