If so, what did you upgrade and what did you replace it with?
Any tips?

I plan on upgrading my CPU and RAM...but I want to get a feel of what other people did.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

A laptop is impossible to upgrade because all components and build into the motherboard.

@hell_storm2004, I've got a 2.20 GHz Pentium Dual-Core T4400 and 4 GB Memory running on my inspiron 1545.

I plan on upgrading to an Intel Core 2 Duo with 8GB Memory. <-a lot of people say the 1545 doesn't support anything more than 4 GB buuuut crucial.com says it's possible...so I'm going to take their word for it.

@saint19, I believe that it is actually possible with the dell inspiron 1545. I've seen youtube videos of people replacing the RAM and CPU. here they are:

RAM isn't a problem, you can do it in any rig (desktop or laptop) but the CPU is another thing

No, never, as I say up many of those CPU are embedded to the motherboard. In other way, I have in my hand a DELL which is able to change the CPU but it's because use socket and not embedded design.

The CPU change would mean a motherboard change. That can cost almost as much as a new laptop!
