Amd xp 3200 test

I'm getting a "Trap 00000002 exception" , If I attempt to run my processor at 2.2 mhz. I can get computer to start up if I reduce speed to 1733.4mhz in the bios. Memory test in all slots says memory is ok no errors, but I get the above trap exception before long test can be run....it just locks up Im wondering if there is a soft ware test to figure out if problem is processor or motherboard?

That processor is almost 10 years old. If it has been used constantly it could just be at the end of its life and will soon cease to be functional
