About to Buy...but needing some pointers!

I'm looking for a new desktop now that my laptop is dying (and my mobile phone can handle my "on the go" needs). Thanks to the threads on this forum and the combo-bundles available on NewEgg, I'm getting familiar enough with the hardware selection process to start making some decisions. I'm looking to stay under $800 when all is said and done...including monitor.

I'm getting dangerously close to purchasing, but a couple issues stand out.

1) Nobody around here talks about the OS for their system. Does everyone on this forum already own spare Windows installs/licenses to stuff into their machines? Am I even allowed to dump my laptop OS into a new desktop with the install disk (I can only imagine this causing major config problems)?

2) None of the builds on this board or on NewEgg include a modem, wired or -less. Are they integrated in other components? Is everyone just hot-swapping these out of their old machines?

3) SSDs. This may simply not fit into my price range (or my current learning curve), but I'm intrigued. Worth the $/effort? Can I 'trade down' other components to include an SSD at similar performance? Is it reasonable/worthwhile to add this as an upgrade down the line?

If any of these answers is best handled by personal message, please contact me that way. Thanks!

PS - This is the system I'm currently looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.692056

I'm mostly liking the CPU/GPU combo, and everything else looks like solid filler. I have little/no understanding of Motherboard selection - if anyone has a problem with the one in this listing, I'd love to hear the alternatives (especially if they're cheaper)!

1) windows oem licenses are not transferable but retail versions are just as long they are only installed on one machine at a time. Some people have been able to plead with MS in the past and activated their OEM Windows on different new hardware.
2) Most people these days do not include modems because they are on broadband and use their network card instead.
3) SSD is a great speed booster but it is not necessary to have one, can always be added later.

Your build as such looks fine and I would not cut down on any of the components.

The samsung spinpoint f3 would be a better performer for the price.
