I plug a USB flash drive in a USB port and the NB running Windows ME detects
the hardware but just hang there and failed to install the driver
automatically. Can someone advise me the possible solution.

My Scandisk Cruzer came with a CD with a driver.
You may need to install a driver before using the flash drive. I thought
only Windows 2000 and XP had the drivers built-in.
Take a look at the flash drive website for a driver or send me an email and
I'll send you a copy of the Scandisk driver.

Don,
Thanks for your reply. If the system requires driver, it should ask
normally. However, it did not ask and just stuck. I feel something wrong.

I looked up my flash drive and you are correct, ME doesn't need a special
driver.
How about trying a different USB port? Or, another computer, could be the
drive is defective.
