Hello,
I have a motherboard question. Which video card could my motherboard handle? It's made by pegatron. I have a whole list of info from aida i could share. Originally i had an 8500 gt 512mb. I have since bought an 8400 gs 1gb but was wondering if i could get a better video card without having to but a new motherboard. I have a 300 watt power supply and a quad 6600.
Not the greatest i know but i don't need a serious gaming pc. Ty for reading this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

(I picked asus as a sub category because i didn't see pegatron in the options)

Pegatron is the OEMs name for the board many boards have that name so which one? 8400GS is weaker than your 8500GT. GT640 comes in mind or HD6570 or HD6670 with out PSU change.

Ty for the response. I was afraid to get gt 640 because i was under the impression it would fry the motherboard in a couple of days because that's what a geek squad team member from bestbuy told me.

I will look for one today and return the 8400 gs.

Motherboard has nothing to do with what graphics card can be handled as long as it's pci-e, you can use any pci-e video card given your psu can power it and your cpu doesn't bottleneck it.

So what we need to know is not the motherboard, but what make and model psu and what cpu.

Sorry for being so dumb about all this. So what i heard was wrong? TY for clearing this up.
So with a 300w and 6600 quad i can use more cards than i first thought.
I guess that means if i bought a new power supply i could use an even better card.

Any reccomendations for a good $100 or so card? Is the hd 6570, 6670 or the gt 640 still my best bet?
I don't play any graphics heavy games really.
Thanks again everyone.
