Hello,
im looking at upgrading my computer, and i was wondering if a GeForce 9600GT would run games such as Brink, Block Ops, and Starcraft II. any would would be appreciated. thanks

The 9600GT was a pretty good card when it first came out; I remember paying $165 for it. It is still a decent card, but lacks DX11 features. See following review for some benchmarks, it is excluded from DX11 games. It is faster than the more recent GT 240 and the GT 430.

It is also do pretty well in CoD: BO

And will be decent for StarCraft 2

Brink? Don't know.

Im on a budget... once i finish upgrading (excluding the graphics) it will be a Intel single core i believe processor of 3.0 Ghz, 3 gbs of ddr2 ram, 320 Gb hard drive. I've been piecing stuff together out of old computers for a while, so I dont know everything for sure. I picked this one because i found it for 40 bucks off of Newegg. im trying to keep everything under 100 bucks total, so wireless card, RAM, hard drive, and graphics

Unfortunately, that is going to result in a significant drop in performance. Most games today requires at least a duo core CPU. Those benchmarks that I linked to has a test rig which uses a very powerful quad core CPU like the i7 920.

I would say a single core Pentium 4 CPU will result in a 33% performance penalty.

Thats Honestly fine by me. Im running another computer with a dual core that has less Ghz than my single, with integrated graphics thats running SCII on not even lowest settings at 30 fps. Im not looking for anything crazy, just something that'll play it. I also dont have money for the newest games or hardware.

I wouldn't reject a card simply because it lacks dx11 when the vast majority of the games out there since 2002 till today run dx9 any way. A 9600gt is on par with a gt240 and gt430 well slightly better but overall this card is going to be pushed to the limits easily unless casual about settings. I prefer the g92 to the g94 any way.
