Hello all, I'm gonna build my own gaming rig for about $1000. I was wondering about the validity of the gtx 460 from nvidia. Would it be good for 1-2 years. or should I invest another $50-$100 for a 560 video card? I've heard various things about both cards. Some people says the the 560 is a rip which only gives 10-15 more fps then the 460. Other say that the 460 is the ripoff, clearly contradicting each other. I's fairly new to the "building a computer" scene, so I don't know the intricacies of what makes a graphics card better or worse than an other. Can anyone help me?

No a typical gtx 460 won't last that long unless causal use of the machine. The reason is due to poor cooling, 160w or the equivalent gtx 285 in a smaller space with no power vrm and vram cooling. I suggest that you avoid this card unless you are a modder. A gtx 560 ti with mid plate is a better investment that is if you replace the thermalpads if needed.
