To upgrade, or not to upgrade; this is the question.

Hi all.

Sorry for bothering, but i need some professional help here :bounce:

My specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 LE-1640
GPU: Sapphire Ati HD 5670 (512Mb DDR5/128bit)
RAM: 1x 2Gb DDR2 800Mhz
MOBO: AsRock N61P-S
HDD: 2x IDE HDD (1x40Gb and 1x160Gb) - plugging the DVDROM only when changing OS -replacing the 160Gb HDD :na:
PSU: MaxCube Nira 400w

At this stage, the PC is quite "ok", no problems caused by low PSU, however, after some time on "intensive" games, the GPU does get quite hot compared to the GPU reviews.

I'm planning on replacing:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 250
MOBO: ASRock 760GM-GS3
RAM: 2x Sycron 2GB DDR3 1333MHz
HDD: Samsung 320GB SATA-II 7200 rpm 16MB SpinPoint F4

Will the MaxCube Nira do the job (handle the system even on allmost 100% load)?Or should I upgrade the PSU too?
In case the Nira won't do the job, I tought about a Inter-Tech Energon 650w, wich has a efficiency of 75-85%, CWT, SCP, OCP, OVP, and 4x 12v rails of 18A/18A/18A/18A.It has 4.7/5 in 30 reviews, full positive opinions on systems that are twice as better as mine.

For the system i want to build, http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp says the minimum PSU wattage is 280W - 24A on the 12v rail - and recommended is 330w - 28A on the 12v rail -
What are your opinions? Is the Nira ok or do i need the Energon?

Solution
Your current psu is plenty big enough to handle it.

Why build an old 2 core...we all have our reasons im just curious though :)

an athlon x2 is fine for low res gaming and basic tasks, im running a phenom x2 which is very similar and i only notice the lack of cores in bf3, apart from that a 1tb hard drive isnt much more si id reccomend saving up for that. also wait for hard drive prices to come back down, in the uk prices have tripled because of the taiwan flooding
