HD 6950 to HD 6970 Mod

Anybody know if the "AMD Radeon HD 6950 to HD 6970 Mod" works (well) on the "MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition OC" as described on the Techpowerup page?

the bios flash your refering to should work on all 6950's. Use google there are hundreds of articles already about this.

No, it won't, but there is a better alternative.

You don't want to flash it to a 6970, just unlock the extra shaders.

Having the MSI 6950 TF III PE gives you the best option available. MSI created a bios for that card that unlocks the bios and unlocks the overclocking limits. Just be careful on the overclocking, the limits that they give you are ridiculously high.

Actually I didn't have and still don't have the intention to overclock. I always think you're way better off, in price AND in effort, buying a better card.
Take the "MSI R6970 Lightning" for instance. Now THAT's a card! At only about 80 Euros more I think that's what I'm gonna go for. Yep that it is!

There is nothing wrong with getting that card and spending the extra cash. Of course it's also fun to get extra performance by technical know-how. There is nothing really wrong with either.

The lightning looks like an awesome card.
