Im thinking of buying some new "better" memory for my pc but I'm just wondering if i will see any noticeable performance if i do.
At the moment I'm running corsair vengeance 2x8gb running at 1600mhz in an asus x79 rampage formula with an i7 3820 + asus 6950 direct cu ii 2gb.

I was thinking about buying about 4x4gb of dominator or dominator platinum ram but I'm starting to have second thoughts about buying such expensive ram if i don't see any noticeable performance when i install it into my computer.

Is it worth buying new ram or am i fine with what i have now?

There is no need to go to a 4x4 setup, you having your memory running in dual channel for max performance. You wouldnt see much increase in performance. Just make sure that you have the memory in the correct slots according to the mobo manual.

RAM performance benefits really drop off after 1600mhz. No, it's not worth it. Save your money for a better GPU.
Whatever convinced you to get a 3820? A 3770K on a Z77 board would have been much more economical and would have got you better performance.
