Reboot select proper media hp no drives in bios cd does not work

the computer had no indication of problems until this occured. Reboot and select proper boot media. tried new drive..nothing. using a bootable ubuntu cd...nothing. recovery disks don't go either.
no drives listed in bios. the cd drive was set to boot first.
So I tried reseating all cables. reset cmos battery. restoring bios to defaults.
so im starting to think its power supply or motherboard
Any help would be appriciated

Try disconnecting your optical drive and see if the hardrive will go past the post screen. Could be a bad power supply lead to one of the drives.
  2. I tried thank you. I ended up concluding it was a bad mb. Replaced and works great thank you
