Hey guys,

An image recently has been spread across the 'Net
(http://www.mortalkombatguides.com/images/news/kahn_mag_mkd_01.jpg) and
my guess points to it being the Camecube version, as we know they had
extras planned for it to make up for the lack of Internet play.

PS2 and XBox owners are MK:D's out already so why post it to those groups?

So they can discuss what they might be missing out on (or visa versa).

Well....the picture's kinda cool and all....but this is MK...and you
should already know what they are doing. Who does Shao Kahn look
like...look at the way he's standing...it's Onaga. I will bet you $100
that Shao Kahn is nothing more than Onaga's motion capture with a few more
moves. Now granted, I love MK to death...but when it comes to putting
effort forth on "enhanced" editions...you've just got to expect non-stop
palette swaps or motion capture doubles. Let me guess...the next "extra"
is allowing people to play as Kitana...or Johnny Cage or any of the
characters that were in DA? ;)

MK:D was never really a topic for discussion on any of the newsgroups and I
am a big fan of the game. Maybe if Nintendo took their heads out of their
asses they wouldn't have to play catch up on cross platform titles like
this. It's the reason my GC sits and collects dust and has so for nearly 2
years now

Hell, sell it to me...I won't play any GC games on it...but man, I've *love* to
get the GBA Player and go crazy with that. ;)

That screen is probably from the Xbox version. If you have a modded
Xbox you can use a bunch of other characters not available in the game
(not even unlockable). Maybe they'll be playable on the GC without a
hack, but the screenshot doesn't lead me to that conclusion.

Yeah, same on PS2, it's just the original characters from MK:DA. From what I
hear, the game crashes if you attempt their fatalities and when you beat it.
Though it's cool that you can do it, with the new/returning characters having
the DA character's "styles" and such, there isn't much of a point to it.

Just look the MK team's history with "upgrades".

Thing is, the MK team is done with Deception...they're not going to go back and
bust their ass for the Gamecube version and all of the 13 sales it'll bring in.
They'll just add in Sonya, or someone, come up with a new bio and a new ending,
call it quits at that. Now, this is assuming they do anything at all...hell, the
pic could just be a fake, who knows...;)

Actually, it's from a Chicago Big Business magazine or something-- I
doubt they have many contacts with 'modded Xboxs' ;)

I picked up MKD for the Xbox and it's OK but DOAU blows it away on both
gameplay and looks.

How about that wonderfully laggy online play? How's that working out for you?

For the most part online play has been great with DOAU - more issues with
MKD but both show lag depending on who you are playing against.

I should add that if you like fighters and can afford both - get both as
they are both enjoyable and quite different but if you have an Xbox and can
afford only one - DOAU is the one to grab.

I think you'd "dig" Viewtiful Joe. It's "hip".

That's what I'm hearing. Though I also hear that one needs to avoid the demo if on
the PS2...;)

I talk a lot of smack about the GC, but there's definitely some stuff I'd get on
it...but in the end, I guarantee you that I'd play the GBA games more than anything
else. Just that fact that it's nothing but a suped up SNES(I know I'm going to pay
for that one), that just rocks...I loved the SNES back when I had it...and it's kinda
nice to see all these rehashed SNES games make it back, but upgraded.

It's also on PS2 - and cheaper. (stupid stores still charing $30 for VJ
on GCN, when it comes out for $20 on PS2...)

Bel has more issues with the PS2 than he does with the GC.

True...but if we're going to go into issues then we'll need to talk about this Mac owner
actively supporting MS's Xbox...;)
