I5 760 OC'd to 3.6 with a super fast GPU make sense?

Would I benifit having a super fast GPU? Or being that the processor can only process so much make the card pointless? Or is balance a better solution? Such as my 760 and a GTX 460 or a GTX 560?

Does having a high end GPU with a medium end processor having any performance enhancements?

I know RAM is a factor also, I have 8 gigs of OCZ platinum series.

Can somebody explain why this is good or bad?

Your i5 760 is enough for even a GTX 580.

The processor is still very competent.

Right, I get that the 760 is enough for the 580. But will the 760 push the 580 to it's performance levels. Why would I want a gpu my cpu can't push to full potential? Or would that cpu push that gpu to its full potential?
