I recently purchased the gigabyte radeon hd 7970 windforce x3 to put in my asrock pro3 z77 mobo. I get no signal when the gpu is put in the 3.0 slot, but it works fine in the 2.1 slot. Do I need drivers or something for the 3.0 slot or should I RMA the mobo?

Hmm. That sounds fine.

You shouldn't need any special drivers to enable PCI 3 mode, it should just work.

It could be that you need updated drivers for the graphics card in order for it to work in PCIe 3.0.
OR the slot could be disabled in BIOS.
