So The computer I have now does it's job, but I have a feeling it will become obsolete soon, it's several years old and last year the fan on my video card died(nvidia geforce 9600 gt) so I've used a number of other fans, creating a lot of racket, I picked out some parts for a computer I'd like to put together, I just want to make sure they're compatible, I'm at my maximum budget of a total of $570 with these

ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G motherboard

MSI N460GTX Hawk GeForce GTX 460 Video card

Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

AMD Athlon II X2 255 Regor 3.1GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core

I'm not big on what's what in the custom computer world, so suggestions are always appreciated, thanks. :)

Edit:
I guess I was posting with the intent to find out if there'd be compatibility issues, but I was also planning on getting

HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.C 0F10383 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

COOLER MASTER Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

which is wehre the extra money came from

What I have right now is:

Asus m2n-e(not sli) mobo

2 gb OCZ ddr2 ram

nvidia geforce 9600 gt, and an Athlon II x2 2.4 ghz

I suggest sticking with the i3 build, it will destroy the X3 in just about everything, while using 30w less and he can upgrade to Ivy Bridge next year.

Just figured the OP was an AMD person and wanted to show what $575 buys - with a BullDozer upgrade path.
