EVGA GTX 570 in x8 PCI Express?

I have a EVGA GTX 570 in my top most PCI-E x16 slot on an Asus P67 Sabertooth board. This mobo, though, only has two PCI-E x16 slots and if both are used it goes down to x8/x8.

My question is: if I put a x8 RAID card in the second PCI-E x16 slot - running both at x8, will I lose much from the EVGA GTX 570?

Additionally (though in the wrong forum) - what is the max bandwidth if I were to keep my RAID card in the PCI-E x1 slot? PCI slot?

  1. You won't see much loss from the bandwidth going down to 8 lanes, although it can depend on what you're playing, what resolution, etc.

Couldn't answer your RAID card question though.
  2. I play all my games at 2560x1600 on my 30" monitor.
  3. you wont lose much, maybe 2%.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express < 1 pci express lane can do 250 MB/sec. Was wondering why you dont just use the onboard RAID?
