Yes, I know that the 480 outperforms the 560 by a significant amount, but given this situation:

-price on both cards is the same
-I will have a 600W PSU
-480 requires much more power and produces more heat (idle temp is double than that of 560, according to anandtech)
-560 needs less power and runs much cooler
-I am only going to play on a 1650x1050 resolution (but with demanding games in which I want 60+ fps & 2x or no AA)

Which one of these cards is more worth getting? Thanks

more specifically I'm looking at these two cards:

Also consider the fact that I'm only going to run a 1650x1080 resolution (with very little or no AA), and that the 480 is recertified (not new). Wouldn't a 480 be a bit overkill for that?

I would never buy a weaker card based on heat and power if it's the same price as a more powerful card, but I get cheap co-op power and it's 99 here anyways so I'm pumping the A/C all day regardless. At your resolution with no AA the 560 is going to run pretty much everything faster than your monitor can display it anyways, but you might end up keeping your video card longer than your monitor...

On 95% of the games out you will see the exact same performance from either card with a standard 60hz monitor at your resolution. The 560 will use less power produce less heat and probably be a little more quiet, and you have the peace of mind of a longer warranty. Personally I would choose the 480, but I also choose to drive a 1972 olds cutlass 442 even though gas is close to 4 bucks a gallon. Just depends whether or not you are willing to sacrifice some efficiency for raw power.

Only get the 480 if it is a custom model with custom, quieter cooling (which this one is not). Otherwise, you will be disappointed in the noise level (speaking as a former Asus GTX 480 owner).

On the other hand, the GTX 560 will serve your relatively low resolution needs very well and will do it at near silent noise levels. You will also be able to overclock it to GTX 480 performance levels. With the GTX 480, overclocking will mean even more noise. (If you use headphones or don't mind the noise, that EVGA Superclocked with the custom backplate is a very nice GTX 480 model.)
