Corsair 650D vs 500R

Hello,

I'll be building my gaming rig very soon here and one thing I'm having a hard time deciding on is the case. It has bascially come down to two cases for me.

The Corsair Obsidian 650D

Or

The Corsair Carbide 500R

The question for me is: Which one would suit my components better? Which one will keep my components cooler? Which one will be the quieter case?

I know that the 500R is at a much better price than the 650D so I know that would be an obvious advantage.

My components:

Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z
MSI R6970 Lightning
Kingwin LZP-750 750W PSU
Intel Core i5 2500K (Will O.C. to 4.5Ghz)
Crucial M4 64GB SSD
WD Caviar Black 750GB 7200RPM SATA III HDD
G. Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 1600
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Samsung BlueRay Drive

I have the 400R which is basically the same case as the 500R. It cools great and has plenty of room. I personally do not care for corsair fans (i find the 120mm too loud and the 200mm too slow) so I replaced the corsair 120mm in my case with antec tri-cool and enermax TB silence. Either case will work fine but I'll let anandtech's review of the 500R speak for itself.

As far as competing against itself, Corsair's "evolution in reverse" continues. With the existence of the 500R, I have a hard time recommending end users spend up for the Graphite 600T or Obsidian 650D. Those are both fine cases, but honestly I feel like the 500R is simply a better performer. Your mileage may vary and you may find the aesthetics of the other two cases more your speed, but Corsair threatens to obsolete themselves with the 500R.
