Hi, my mum's computer died yesterday, they took it to a shop to be looked at.
He said it's either the mobo or the cpu that's died. He also said it would cost 30 quid for him to determine which one it is.

Is there any way for me to do it myself? The new part alone is gonna cost me as it is.

Thanks

depends on what it doing...if there no fan spin or power or the fan twitch...it could be the power supply that gone. most times on per builts it the power supply or mb very few times have i seen a cpu die unless it over clocked to far and fried. if you have a know good power supply and not getting the mb to post. try pulling the video card and ram...if the mb is posting with no ram or video card the mb should beep at you with a cmos beep code. if it beeping now look up the beep code info. could be ram or gpu failure.

I took out the cpu and took it into the shop and asked if they could test it, which they did and said it worked fine.

So, it's time for a new mobo it seems.

Thanks for the help any way though smorizio.
