No line in audio windows 7

I have upgraded to Win7 32 bit on my Dell xps 400 with an onboard Sigmatel audio chip set. The only audio driver I have been able to get working is the MS Win7 default driver.
The problem is that it does not show nor enable the line in for recording. The only record device it shows in the microphone input.
Any ideas?

Recommend you download the Driver Sweeper...

Reboot into the Safe mode (F8). With the Driver Sweeper, remove the existing driver, then install the new driver from Dell.
